Garmin Releases the Venu 2 Smartwatch With All-Day Health Tracking
Garmin has announced the Venu 2 and Venu 2s smartwatches with a bunch of health and fitness-focused features. The Venu 2 is the successor to the original Venu that released in 2019, while the Venu 2s is a smaller and more compact model for people with smaller wrists.
Compared to the original Venu, the Venu 2 shows a lot more information on your wrist, including fitness age, Sleep Score, and more.
The Venu 2 has a 45mm watch case with 22mm watch band support, while the Venu 2s has a smaller 40mm casing with 18mm band support. They are available in a variety of colors and watch band combinations. Both models feature stainless steel bezel along with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display that supports Always-On Display. The display itself is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
Garmin Venu 2 Specs and Health Features
The Venu 2 series offers all-day health monitoring. It can track your heart rate, fitness age, stress levels, calories burnt, and more. It also features advanced sleep-tracking powered by Firstbeat analytics and provides a sleep score based on that. For women, it can track their menstrual cycles and pregnancy weeks. The smartwatch also has a Body battery metric which can show how "charged" your body is, so you can better schedule your workouts and rest times.
Other notable health features include automatic incident detection, LiveTrack, activity profiles for HIIT workouts, and more. The smartwatch has over 25 preset workout modes. It also has onboard GPS, so you can leave your phone behind while going on a run or trek.
The Health Snapshot feature will let you start a 2-minute session to record your key health stats, which can then be shared with a healthcare provider.
The Venu 2 offers up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 8 hours in GPS mode with music playback. Garmin rates the smaller Venu 2s to deliver up to 10 days of battery life. It can also track your outdoor activities using GPS for 7 hours. Thanks to fast charging support, the smartwatches can deliver up to one day of battery life in smartwatch mode after just 10 minutes of charging.
You can also download up to 650 songs from Spotify, Amazon Music, or Deezer on the Garmin Venu 2/2s for offline playback. The smartwatches also support Garmin Pay for contactless payments.
If you own an Android smartphone, you will be able to use reply to notifications right from your Garmin Venu 2. You can also customize the watch as per your liking by downloading apps and watch faces from the Connect IQ store.
If you are looking for a more fashionable fitness tracker, Fitbit recently launched the Fitbit Luxe fitness tracker.
Find Your Fitness Age and Turn Back the Clock
The Garmin Venu 2 series is capable of calculating your fitness age, which takes into account your chronological age, activity, resting heart rate, body fat percentage, and BMI into account. This is a better way than simply using one's VO2 max readings to estimate their fitness age.
The watch and its companion app also offer tips on how you can reduce your fitness age by making healthy lifestyle changes.
The Garmin Venu 2 series will carry a retail price of $399.99. It can be ordered from Garmin's website.
