Oculus Is Hosting Its First Ever Gaming Showcase on April 21st
Oculus has announced the Gaming Showcase event, which will highlight what's coming to the Oculus platform in the future.
The event will be broadcast live on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube in the US and Japan at 3pm PT on April 21.
What Is the Gaming Showcase Event?
It's the first time that Oculus has hosted such an event, which the company announced on the Oculus blog.
According to the post, we can expect "new updates to fan-favorite titles, never-before-seen footage from some unreleased games, and a few surprises in store."
Some of the developers participating include Cloudhead Games and Ready At Dawn, with news on games like Pistol Whip, Lone Echo II, and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge promised.
While E3 is returning this year as an all-virtual event, Oculus is getting ahead of the pack by hosting its own dedicated event. It's similar to what other games companies like Nintendo and Ubisoft do, ensuring the focus remains entirely on their games and platforms.
Virtual reality gaming is still niche, but demand grows thanks to the more accessible price points of headsets and games from franchises like Star Wars and Half-Life.
Since Oculus is now owned by Facebook, the company certainly has the funds to splash to secure exclusives for the platform. Expect news at the Gaming Showcase event.
