Wear OS Now Displays a UV Index to Keep You Safe in the Sun
Google has updated the Weather app on Wear OS to add UX index support to it. There's also a UV index complication which one can add to their Wear OS watch clock face.
Google's Weather app for Android already shows the UV index, and Google is now bringing that same information to your wrist.
Your Wear OS Watch Will Now Tell You When to Put on Sunscreen
The UX index number will tell you the strength of the solar ultraviolet radiation in your area on a scale of 0 to 12. The higher the number, the worse the radiation is, which means you should put on sunscreen before stepping out.
If the UV index is above 4, it is recommended that you do not expose your skin directly to sunlight and use sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes.
Stay safe while catching rays. ☀️

Google has been taking its own time in rolling out meaningful updates for the Wear OS platform. While the platform is in dire need of a major overhaul and improvements, the company has been rolling out minor updates to improve usability. In March, Google announced that it was adding support for third-party tiles to Wear OS.
There's a lot of work that Google needs to do to improve Wear OS, especially in regards to its performance and battery life. The next Galaxy Watch from Samsung is expected to run on Wear OS, so maybe that will be a big enough incentive for Google to further develop its smartwatch platform.
