You Can Now Keep Track of Twitch Chats With "Chat Replies"

If you've ever tried to hold a conversation in a busy Twitch chat, you'll know how tricky it can be when the messages flow past like water. Fortunately, Twitch is now rolling out its chat replies feature to all of the websites.

Twitch's New Chat Replies Feature

Twitch broke the good news on the official Twitter account. The Tweet gives a brief rundown on how the feature works and what to expect from the update.

The feature is simple to use. When someone says something that you want to reply to directly, you can hover your mouse over the message and click the arrow that appears. Then, type your reply and hit Enter.

When you reply to someone, that person will be pinged as if you mentioned them regularly. However, other people can hover their mouse over the message and see the whole reply thread.

Other people can then join the conversation by replying in the same way. As long as everyone uses the same system, their replies should all show up within the thread, making it easy to see what everyone's saying.

Wait... Haven't I Seen This Before?

Twitch enthusiasts will likely be scratching their heads at the sound of this news. Twitch replies have been around since August 2020; why is the company finally announcing them today?

If you saw and used the chat reply feature in the past, you were actually experiencing a trial version of this feature. It was only available in a few channels to begin with, and Twitch was still checking if the feature needed any improvements during this time.

Now, not only is the Twitch chat reply feature live for everyone, but it also got an update to add some handy keyboard shortcuts. As such, Twitch veterans should receive this news as an official release of chat replies as it launches from its test period.

Bringing Order to the Chaos of Twitch Chat

If you want to talk to a specific user in a Twitch chat, it can be hard to keep track of the conversation if it's a jam-packed night. Now you don't need to keep track of anything; use the Twitch chat reply feature and have the website do all the hard work.

If someone begins being rowdy or offensive in one of your reply chains, don't be hesitant to block them. Twitch has its tools for getting rid of inconsiderate chatters, and blocking them is the quickest and easiest way to take care of the problem.
