Facebook Wants You to Honor Your Teachers With Virtual Tributes

Letting teachers know how grateful you are for their work is a great way to lift their spirits, especially after the difficulties they’ve faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Facebook, in collaboration with the Say It Now organization, has created a new initiative to help people honor those teachers and educators that have positively influenced their lives. Which means you can now set up a Virtual Living Tribute for your favorite educator through the app using the Messenger Rooms tool.

Celebrate the Work of Educators With an Online Tribute

Given how complicated 2020 was for educators, this initiative is quite timely. It is an amazing way to honor everything that they went through during this period.

Messenger is calling on its users to create Virtual Living Tributes via Messenger Rooms to share their respect and recognize the hard work of their educators. Anyone can run such a tribute; it doesn’t matter whether you’re a former or current student.

As explained in the press release:

Teachers are often underappreciated and moments of gratitude are more meaningful than ever right now. With this in mind, Messenger Rooms is working with Say It Now, an organization that helps people conduct “Living Tributes” honoring those who have impacted their lives the most.

Of course, you can say how thankful you are in a personal one-on-one conversation. However, it’s not always possible to do this, so these Virtual Living Tributes provide an alternative.

By conducting an online tribute on the Messenger app, you can not only express your gratitude to your favorite teacher by yourself but add up to 50 other students to join you in honoring the work of that educator.

How to Create a Virtual Living Tribute to Your Teacher

A Virtual Living Tribute is basically a group video call conducted through Messenger Rooms.

It can be scheduled in advance through Facebook Messenger. After choosing a teacher and potential participants, and scheduling the video call, you should send all of the details along with the Room link to everyone who wants to contribute to the living tribute.

Other Ways You Can Use Messenger Rooms

Through Facebook's Messenger Rooms tool, you can conduct video meetings, participate in online classes, or simply hang out with your friends and family. If you're new to this tool, check out our beginner's guide to Messenger Rooms.
