Gaming Studio Launches With Promise of "New Interactive Digital Media Format"

Former Codemasters game designers, The Oliver Twins, have launched Panivox alongside Neil Campbell, the co-founder of Viewpoint Games.

Panivox to Bring a New Interactive Platform

The Oliver Twins, who previously worked on the Dizzy titles (among others) for Codemasters (which was recently bought out by EA) have hit the newswires today as they launch their new platform, Panivox.

The UK dev pair (who are actually twins, Philip and Andrew), have teamed up with Viewpoint Games' Neil Campbell. Viewpoint has previously developed titles for the Oculus platform, namely Slammer; a futuristic VR take on air hockey.

We know little about Panivox yet, aside from its name and some rather vague details, but digging a little deeper, we can make a few educated guesses.

What Is Panivox?

As we say, we don't currently know what Panivox is aside from it being a "new interactive digital media format". However, there are a few clues peppered around Panivox.com if you're eagle-eyed about it.

First off is the name. Panivox. "Vox" means "voice" or "vocals", while the "Pani" may refer to panoramic, which would make sense in terms of sound and (perhaps) vision.

Second is the partnership with Neil Campbell. His Viewpoint Games deals with VR titles, so that may well be an avenue the Oliver Twins are exploring.

Next is the Creatives page of the Panivox website. It says:

We are creating a collaborative platform for a new type of creative media which we believe will appeal to a massive audience.

And goes on to say what the Panivox platform will be comparable to:

Similar to YouTube, Twitch, Minecraft, Roblox, Podcasts and Tik Tok, it will become a platform for creative people to create and eventually earn from a new type of entertainment.

As mysterious as Panivox all sounds, it certainly appeals. A platform for collaborative creativity is all good in our book.

The website even says it wants people to earn from the platform. So could this be the next NFT? Or are The Oliver Twins going down the same route as Atari and opening a crypto casino?

Whatever Panivox is, we're excited to see how its journey progresses.

Panivox: To Be Continued...

We will monitor Panivox as it develops and keep you up to date with any new revelations. We might not know much, but considering the Oliver Twins are touting names like Twitch, Minecraft, and Roblox, this might be something truly exciting.

Imagine those platforms in a virtual reality environment. If our hunch is correct, and we can be "inside" crafting and building environments, or VR studios, then Panivox could genuinely offer the unique experience it says it can.
