NVIDIA Admits GPU Demand Will Continue to Outstrip Supply

The video game sector is one part of the market that's been a little more resilient to the COVID-19 pandemic. While many major live gaming events were cancelled in 2020 (e.g. E3, BlizzCon, PAX West, etc.), video game sales have generally increased as more people turn to gaming as a pastime.

This means more people want to build PCs for gaming, too, but the best graphics cards out there have been so hard to get. Nvidia says that it doesn't look like it'll get any easier anytime soon.

Nvidia Says GPU Demand Continues to Exceed Supply

On Monday, Nvidia held its first investors meeting for the 2022 fiscal year, where Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress discussed the GPU shortage that's plagued the market for the past several months. Unfortunately, it looks like company supply still won't be able to keep up with consumer demand.

"Overall demand remains very strong and continues to exceed supply while our channel inventories remain quite lean. We expect demand to continue to exceed supply for much of this year," she said.

Kress also explained that Nvidia believes it'll have "sufficient supply to support sequential growth." In other words, the company will stock more products than before, with the hopes of outselling the last fiscal quarter. That shouldn't be a problem for Nvidia, considering how difficult it is to get your hands on one of its graphics cards.
