You Can Now Set the Book You're Reading as Your Kindle Lockscreen

Amazon often releases new features and updates for its Kindle e-readers. And now, finally, the company has added one Kindle owners have been asking for for years... the ability to set the cover of the book you're currently reading as the lockscreen of your device.

Before this change was rolled out, the only way people could display a book cover as their lockscreen was after jailbreaking their device. And actually, it was one of the main reasons why many Kindle owners did just that.

Set the Cover of Your Book-in-Progress as Your Kindle Screensaver

For many people, it has always been a problem remembering which book they were last reading on Kindle. Since many other ebook companies already have this feature embedded into their devices, for some, it was one of the reasons to switch to a different e-reader.

Now, this feature is also available on Kindle devices. Which means you can get the cover of the book, magazine, comic, or Manga that you’re currently in the middle of displayed as your device’s screensaver.

To use the Display Cover feature, you should open your Kindle’s settings. Then simply toggle on Show Cover, and there you have it—a cover of the book that you're currently reading set as your Kindle’s lockscreen.

Only Some Kindle Devices Got the Display Cover Feature

Unfortunately, not all Amazon Kindles are compatible with this feature. According to Amazon:

The Display Cover feature is available on the without-ads versions of select devices, including Kindle (8th, 10th Gen), Kindle Paperwhite (7th, 10th Gen), Kindle Oasis (8th, 9th, 10th Gen), and Kindle Voyage (7th Gen).

If your Kindle is an ad-supported one, you'll only be able to use the Display Cover feature after you remove the ads. To do that, you should update your device.

You can update it either by yourself or by contacting customer services. And keep in mind that this update will require you to make a one-time payment of $20.

This new feature is not yet available globally, but Amazon claims that soon everyone with a compatible device will be able to try out this feature sooner rather than later.
