Android's Redesigned Fast Pair Experience Now Official

Google has officially announced a new Fast Pair experience on Android with an updated and easier-to-use layout. The redesigned UI was already showing up for many Android users over the last few weeks with selected OnePlus and Bose headphones and earphones, with Google making it official today for all Fast Pair-compatible Bluetooth devices.

The new Fast Pair experience makes it much easier to connect new Bluetooth earbuds or headphones to your Android device, which support Fast Pair.

New Fast Pair Experience Makes It a Breeze to Pair Bluetooth Devices

A window will pop up on your Android device with the earbuds' image that you are trying to pair along with a blue Connect button at the bottom. It also highlights that pairing the earphones will link it with other devices associated with your Google account.

Tapping on Connect will pair the earbuds or headphones with your Android device, making it a one-tap process. Google also notes in its tweet how Fast Pair is supported by over 100+ headphones, including those from JBL and Sony.

The new UI is very similar to the window that pops up on an iPhone while pairing the AirPods or AirPods Pro.

Google first introduced Fast Pair in 2017 to make pairing Bluetooth devices with Android phones easier. This is the first major UI redesign that the feature has received since then. Despite Google's backing and its usefulness, Fast Pair adoption among accessory makers has been relatively slow.

Google is rolling out the new Fast Pair redesign as a part of a Google Play Services update, which should automatically be installed on your Android device.
